Can anyone become a professional singer?

So basically you have read the question.

I'm having debates and doubts with myself daily about whether I should make my passion into something more (Because that's the only thing I love doing). But the thing is- So far it looks like I have no talent or my tone is not that pleasing as i'd like it to be.

But at the same time- Look at ED SHEERAN. One of the biggest stars, made it big, playing big gigs, making career out of it and started from not a talented place, i'd have to say.

So yeah... I'm a 22 years old male that considers his passion (Whether he should put tremendous amount of work in it or not) and thinks what are the possibilities.

If you love singing, you can practice a lot (because you love singing) and become a good singer. Singing makes one happy, and being able to sing better can feel great. A happy, learning human being can be a good contented person, so it's a win-win.

I'll leave it to others or future me to discuss the professional side of things to your question. The key now is to know yourself better, and if singing does that trick, then nothing like it. You are in a community of music and singing lovers!

Here's a short video of a professional singer composer who isn't trying to be professional in the video, she is simply enjoying her music. This is the key.

She learned music for 5 years before participating in a reality show, back in 2009. (this video could not be embedded, so you'll have to view on youtube). Watch how she didn't try to appease anyone, just did her music her way.

Video 1 (audition round): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0m3_b42shk

Video 2 (semi-finals): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiN-lERWVWo

She didn't win the show. But she continued learning music because she loves music...

Another 5 years and she debuted as a professional singer in 2014 in "Bollywood"

One of the most popular of her songs, composed & sung by her, along with Prateek Kuhad, from a 2016 movie:

Currently, she is an underrated professional artist but much appreciated by her diehard fans. Here's a recent single:

Sonam Kapoor, who you saw in the Preet (Khoobsurat) video above, is the daughter of a superstar actor Anil Kapoor. Look's pretty like a Disney princess, yes? (Khoobsurat was a Disney movie actually!) She's wearing makeup. She has spoken about the illusions of perfection and glamour in media.

Similarly, there is a lot of hype about how "superstar dreams" are realized just by being talented and working hard and how everything is rosy afterwards, be it in movies or music. Here's a big dose of reality from some Quora questions more relevant to music:
