[Member mist…]
I use an iPhone 8 Plus for Smule. I'm happy with the microphone/headset that Apple supplies. (Sometimes I use a professional condenser mic set up, routed through iRig Pro). However, I am less happy with the video that the iPhone produces. Some of the partners who sing with me have much sharper and clearer videos. So, my question is: which phones or tablets are likely to produce the crispest videos (obviously using the front-facing camera). Please provide references for the sources for your decision, if applicable. [Member open…]
The resolution of Smule is extremely low: 360 by 360 pixels. At that resolution, the camera quality doesn’t really make much difference. I think the best bet is to improve the lighting of the recording. That heavily influences the video quality, since the Smule videos have a strong video compression. So you need to feed in a lot of details if possible.
