  • Smule introduces Clip feature

Smule just launched a new feature in the iOS app. When you start a new solo or collab, you have a new option to chose ā€œclipā€ instead of ā€œfull songā€. This will allow to only record a part of the song, usually the first chorus.

Clips can vary in length but are usually around 30 seconds to one minute. The music will automatically fade in and out. Smule Clips are an easy and fast way to record on Smule and then share the result on social media without having to get the entire song perfectly right.Ā

Here is an example of a clip recording:

To be honest I do not like this feature. Instead of making the effort to sing the entire song properly and inviting followers to join, we already have short versions of each and every Indian Hindi/TamilĀ songs uploaded as Short versions. This amounts to some one singing twenty short versions as opposed to recording five full songs.Ā  My friends and I try to avoid the short versions as much as possible. Any way this is my opinion.

Smule I am sure has a different take and is interested in "NUMBERS GAME" as larger the number of songs recorded on Smule would mean greater success for SMULE.

I think it isĀ a good option for users who donā€™t want to sing a whole song or for users who donā€™t have a lot of time, which is me for the time being. When I share some of my collabs to my family, I have a family member who complains they ā€œlast too long.ā€ Tells me what she thinks of my singing.šŸ˜‰šŸ˜†šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

If you don't want to sing a whole song - don't. If you don't have time to sing a whole song - don't. Just don't - no one's forcing you! You can also just...stop singing. Instead, now we have ANOTHER "OK" button to press through a makeshift prop, to a precariously placed iPhone in order to sing a whole song.

I donā€™t mind ā€œanother okayā€ button. I can click it with ease. šŸ˜šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼Ā I donā€™t think anyone is trying to ā€œforceā€ anything on anyone, not sure where that came from ... just donā€™t use the clip feature. Simple šŸ˜

For the record, I was offering my opinion on this thread, what the administrator asked. I wasnā€™t addressing anyone. I love to sing, but I donā€™t have a lot of time at the moment, so a clip would be useful, if I choose. And something else ...Ā not everyone has a long attention span and prefer clips to listen to over a whole song.

    Happy Singing!Ā

Really i don"t see the point. Kinda annoying in placement as well. Overall, not a fan of this feature. Let's toss it.
